Chika Nwobi– Managing Partner
Before L5Lab, Chika was Group CEO of MTech PLC, which he co-founded. Chika led
MTech to become the leading mobile content company in Africa with operations in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ivory Coast serving the likes of MTN, Glo, Zain, Virgin Nigeria, Pepsi, Nigerian Breweries and Nokia.
Consulting engagements that Chika has led includes work for Ford Foundation (mobile-
based microfinance management systems) and IFC (World Bank).
Before MTech, Chika worked as a solution consultant at Airtuit (USA). His job involved
working with Fortune 500 clients to formulate their wireless strategy to exploit
opportunities in M-Commerce.
Chika graduated as an Honors scholar from East Tennessee State University, USA with a BA in Economics and a B.Sc. in Computer Science. Chika was part of the Nigeria 2025
Scenarios Team and was a nominee for the Future Awards Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Person of The Year, 2007. He has served as a Mentor for Fate Foundation Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program and has spoken at several youth empowerment events including GOTNII, OAU IFE and The Future Summit. He has also been an invited speaker twice at the GSM Africa conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
Chika left his position at MTech PLC in November 2008 in order to focus on his interest in partnering with other young entrepreneurs to launch new businesses. He remains a major shareholder and a member of the board of directors of MTech Plc.
Elo Umeh – Partner
Before L5Lab, Elo was CEO of Terragon Nigeria – a new media and mobile content
company serving the likes of MTN, UBA and Oceanic Bank. Before Terragon, Elo held stints as Head of marketing and Head of Knowledge Management at MTech.
Elo has gained valuable experience in the Telecommunications industry in different
countries in Africa having led the team that setup MTech Kenya’s operations. Elo has a
bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is also a member of The Project
Management Institute (P.M.
