Chika enjoys developing people and products. Before L5Lab, Chika was co-founder of MTech PLC which, as CEO, he led to become the largest mobile content company in Africa with operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ivory Coast serving the likes of MTN, Glo, Airtel, IFC, Ford Foundation and Nokia.
CChika studied Economics and Computer Science at East Tennessee State University and has taken courses in Strategy (INSEAD), Corporate Finance (INSEAD), Financial Accounting (INSEAD), HR Strategy (Tsinghua University China), Agile Software Methodology (Oxford University)
Chika was part of the Nigeria 2025 Scenarios Team and was a nominee for the Future Awards Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Person of The Year, 2007. He has served as a Mentor for Fate Foundation Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program and as a judge for LEAP Africa’s Youth Leadership Awards and the Federal Government YOUWIN business plan competition.
Patrick is Co-founder and Managing Director of SFS Capital a fund manager/financial advisory firm which has jointly raised over US$10 Billion for its various clients and has over US$100 million Assets Under Management (AUM).
He was the Top graduating student with a B.Sc in Accounting from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Lagos Business School. Patrick is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an Honorary Senior Member Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (HCIB). He is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACIT) and The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (ACS) and a Registered Bond Trader with SEC.
Patrick worked with Stanbic-IBTC for almost a decade and spent some time pioneering a local joint venture with Fortis Investments of Luxemburg prior to joining Skye Financial Services.
Patrick was recently awarded with a Certificate of Distinction as one of Nigeria's Top 25 CEO's in 2015. The Award was given by BusinessDay Newspaper in collaboration with Microsoft (Nigeria).
Patrick is an Alumnus of Harvard Business School (GMP18).
Emeka is Chief Technology Officer at L5lab. Before coming to L5lab, he worked at Verve International, where he headed Product Development and Management.
He has also worked at Interswitch Nigeria, where he headed various units including Business To Consumer Solutions (B2C), QuickTeller and Other Payment Channels as well as Automated Payment Systems at different times. While at Interswitch, he was responsible for the architecture and development of the company's e-payment solutions including QuickTeller (Nigeria's leading multichannel bill payment and funds transfer platform), WebPay (Nigeria's leading Web payment platform), and SafeToken (a two-factor authentication solution) which is currently being used by financial institutions for Web payments.
Emeka has a B.Sc in Mathematics & Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, and is also a certified Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.
L5lab invested in Oya.com.ng to provide bus ticketing solutions for inter-city bus companies in Nigeria. Travelers will be able to go on oya.com.ng from their mobile phones to book bus tickets and pay via mobile money or other channels.
440.ng is a joint venture between L5LAB and 88mph investing in start-ups in Africa through a 3 month accelerator program model
Startups can apply for investment from the 1st of May this year, we will make our first investments during August. The startups that receive an investment from us will move their laptop and coffee mug into a co-working space where we will spend 3 months working together with them on getting to market, testing their products, and helping them build a strong investment case for bigger investors. We invest between $10k - $100k USD.
An L5 Fellow will work for 3-6 months as an Expert-in-Residence with our portfolio companies in an area of strength. For you, this could be marketing, sales, business development, IT, business intelligence, product management or more. Everyday you’ll act as a sounding board for entrepreneurs as they build their businesses while suggesting and implementing ideas of your own based on your experience.
An L5 Fellow could go on to start their own company with potential backing from L5, work in the African tech sector, or join one of our startup companies in a leadership position.
